Post Baby Body!

I recently became a Mum! Precisely 4 months and 5 days ago. It happened on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

It's the most emotional experience of my life yet and I feel thoroughly blessed to have had this life-changing experience and be called Mum to my sweet munchkin - Alex.

2016 will definitely be a year I'll always remember, not only because that's when I became a Mum or the year when Britain left the European Union & Donald Trump became President Elect for the USA, but as the year I lost 23kg in 13 days!

Like many Mums-to-be, I wondered what life after a baby would be. Would I have stretch marks? Would I be fat beyond repentance? But like a joke, I dropped weight so fast my head started to spin.
Initially, I thought it was because I was emotionally and physically drained from having the baby and having to host visitors almost everyday. But long after that phase passed, I have stayed that way.

I thought I'd share a few of the things I did that I believed helped me shed the weight.

1. Hot Water Therapy
My Mum came along with her hot water bottle to press my back and belly and I found this therapy to be extremely relaxing.
Not only did she put the bottle on my belly and back, she made me drink it!

For two full months after birth, I was drinking hot water! And it was tough because Alex arrived during the September heat. But it helped.
By month three, I graduated to lukewarm water and then room temperature water.
I only started trying cold water and my throat hurts sometimes but I'll live.

2. Sodas ke!
I did not taste a drop of Carbonated Soft Drinks until Alex was about 3 months old. Even then, I diluted a quarter of the bottled drink in a glass of water. Since then, I also have not taken any of them drinks. I have had four malt drinks in the period and that's it. I drink water, lots of tea (Alex started reacting to my milk consumption so I cut out milk from my diet) and we make local drinks at home from hibiscus flower using natural fruits as the flavour.

3. Home Made Meals are Bae.
Except for the time when we had to leave home in order to have the place fumigated and for Mummy's birthday, since I had Alex, 95% of the meals I have eaten were prepared at home.
With our meal planner (which was inspired by Dooney's Kitchen), we have been able to prepare and eat clean & healthy Nigerian meals at home.

I hope I've been helpful to someone out there who might be worried about dropping weight after having a baby or dropping weight at all. Yes, you can!

However, no matter how you look, remember that confidence is the best accessory you can put on.
